Community Support Worker - Falkirk - £10.90

Ailsa Care Services currently have the opportunity for a Community Support Worker (male or female) to join our Care at Home Service in Falkirk, providing social support and encouragement to one of our female service users. This will be on a 5 days over 7 shift pattern, scheduled as follows;

We are looking for candidates who are committed to supporting people to live lifestyles of their choosing and demonstrate positive values. Ideally you will be able to promote and encourage independence, choice and respect and have the ability to work to a high standard on your own initiative and take a flexible approach to your work.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To promote the importance of positive health and wellbeing by encouraging the Service User to develop positive, healthy routines in her daily life e.g. personal care, meal planning/preparing, physical exercise, calming bedtime routine
  • To encourage and support the Service User to manage and understand utility bills, banking, DWP letters and all other incoming/outgoing correspondence
  • To carry out light housework duties
  • To accompany the Service User to go shopping, attend appointments, or to go for a walk in the park
  • To prompt medication

Candidates must;

  • have a minimum of six-months experience working within the Mental Health Sector
  • have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and feel confident dealing with household bills, DWP correspondence etc
  • enjoy meeting new people and be committed to supporting others to make the most of each new day
  • have patience and the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with others
  • possess excellent listening skills
  • have a 'can do' attitude and have the ability to remain calm in any given situation
  • have knowledge and an understanding of the principles set out by The Care Act that underpin the safeguarding of adults
  • be reliable!

We are a living wage employer and pay a rate of £10.90 per hour. 

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with vulnerable adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scotland (PVG) Act 2007. Successful applicants will be subject to a full PVG Disclosure.

You will also be required to be registered with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) within the first 6 months of commencement in post. You must be qualified or working towards the relevant qualifications as detailed in the National Care Standards. Failure to attain the qualification required will exempt you from registration.

Contract length: Permanent subject to 6 month probationary period.
